学名: Amphora pediculus (Kütz.) Grunow in A.W.F.Schmidt et al. , Atlas Diat. pl. 26, f. 99. 1875.
基礎異名: Cymbella pediculus Kütz, Bacill. 80. pl. 5, f. 8. pl. 6, f. 7. 1844.
その他異名: Amphora ovalis var. pediculus (Kütz.) Van Heurck 1885.
和名: マメオビドメケイソウ (上山・小林, 1986）
類似種との区別点: Amphora inariensis に似るが，殻面背側の条線が2ないし3個の胞紋からなる。Amphora copulata にも似るが，ずっと小型である。
報告があった場所: おそらく汎世界種 (Krammer and Lange-Bertalot, 1986)。日本からの報告も多い。
生態情報: 好清水性・好アルカリ性（渡辺ら, 2005)。酸素が多い浅い水域あるいは流水中の植物（糸状藻，大型珪藻）表面で普通に見られる (Patrick and Reimer, 1975)。河川では砂および中礫上に多い (大塚, 1998)。
