Habitat: In Japan, only reported from a water lily pond in a botanical garden (Okubo 2004). Elsewhere reported from a river (Davis 1980), warm springs, streams, marshes, margins of lakes (Forester 1991), temporary ponds (Diaz & Lopretta 2011), and a canal (Furtos 1933).
Mode of life: Nektobenthic (swimmer).
Reproductive mode: Asexual.
Known distribution: Shiga Prefecture (Okubo 2004). Elsewhere, Brazil (Sars 1901), Paraguay (Daday 1905), Argentina (Diaz & Lopretto 2011), Mexico (Forester 1991), and USA (Furtos 1933; Davis 1980; Forester 1991).
Notes: This species shows a wide size range, from about 2 mm (Diaz & Lopretta 2011) to 3 mm in length (Forester 1991).
