One species has been reported from Japan:

1. Chlamydotheca colombiensis Roessler, 1985

Habitat: In Japan, only reported from a water lily pond in a botanical garden (Okubo 2004, as Chlamydotheca arcuata), and as a contaminant in the pet trade (Smith 2024).

Mode of life: Nektobenthic (swimmer).

Reproductive mode: Asexual.

Known distribution: Shiga Prefecture (Okubo 2004). Elsewhere, Colombia (Roessler 1985; Torres Saldarriage & Martínez 2010), Brazil (e.g. Higuti et al. 2009), and Guatemala (Pérez et al. 2011). Additionally, Casale & Danielopol (1990) recorded this species from an aquarium stocked with tropical fish in Mondsee, Austria, and Bisquert-Ribes et al. (2023) from Spanish rice fields
