Family: Candonidae Kaufmann, 1900
Subfamily: Candoninae Kaufmann, 1900

Three species have been reported from Korea:

1. Cryptocandona brehmi (Klie, 1934)

Habitat: Korean specimens from a small seep. Elsewhere known from a cave (Klie 1934), and a spring-fed pond (Smith 2011).
Mode of life: Benthic.
Reproductive mode: Asexual. Males unknown.
Known distribution: Uljin-gun, North Gyeongsang Province (Chang et al. 2012). Elsewhere, known from Japan (Klie 1934; Smith 2011).

2. Cryptocandona smithi Karanovic & Lee, 2012

Habitat: Small, fast flowing stream with substrate of gravel and fallen leaves.
Mode of life: Benthic.
Reproductive mode: Probably asexual. Males unknown.
Known distribution: Only known from the type locality in Yeongwol, Gangwon Province.

3. Cryptocandona tsukagoshii Smith 2011

Habitat: River gravels (Smith 2011) and springs (Chang et al. 2012).
Mode of life: Interstitial.
Reproductive mode: Probably asexual. Males unknown.
Known distribution: Angang-up, Gyeongju-si, North Gyeongsang Province (Chang et al. 2012). Elsewhere, Japan (Smith 2011).
