Two species have been reported from Korea:

1. Heterocypris incongruens (Ramdohr, 1808)

Habitat: Rice fields, puddles.
Mode of life: Nektobenthic (swimmer).
Reproduction mode: Asexual in Korea. Sexual populations known from some areas in Europe, Turkey and North Africa (Meisch 2000).
Known distribution: Found throughout South Korea (Kim & Min 1991). Elsewhere, global distribution, a cosmopolitan species (Meisch 2000).

2. Heterocypris salina (Brady, 1868)

Habitat: Freshwater rock pool and a small ditch nearby, overlooking the sea (Smith et al. 2014). Elsewhere reported from fresh to slightly salty small waterbodies, near coasts and further inland (Meisch 2000).
Mode of life: Nektobenthic (swimmer).
Reproduction mode: Asexual.
Known distribution: Jeju Island (Smith et al. 2014). Generally, Holarctic (Meisch 2000).
